Sony RX1 – First Images
I cannot believe my eyes that a camera this small packs a full frame sensor. I had thought I found the perfect camera in the Fujifilm X-Pro1 but the only thing missing in that, for me, was a larger sensor. I guess I’m just a snob when it comes to that because I own/owned a 5d, 5d2 and now 5d3. I just can’t seem to get over the look a full frame sensor resolves, though the X-Pro1 x-trans sensor comes damn close.
Below are my first photos from the RX1. A majority of reviews talk about the slower than expected auto focusing. While it isn’t the fastest, it’s almost the most reliable that I’ve used. It locks almost every time so long as you know how to get the best of a contrast detection system.
Oddly enough, the auto focus performance is currently the best thing I love about the camera so far (image quality aside), and I am so close to selling my new Sigma 35mm f/1.4. I probably won’t but that’s how good this lens is on the RX1.
